Greetings from the Local Government Academy!
With the success of the recently concluded NEO Online Course which saw a total of eighty-seven (87) graduates from different regions of the country, it is imperative for us in the Department of the Interior and Local Government to continuously dispense support to help newly-elected officials serve their constituents to the best of their capabilities. One of the modalities being utilized by the Newly-Elected Officials (NEO Program) is through live Online Executive Coaching Sessions (ECS). The ECS will tackle select/specialized topics based on the current trends and issues in local governance. This methodology utilizes an online Virtual Classroom wherein a renowned governance practitioner delivers his/her presentation and other materials while communicating directly with the participants. This allows for real-time interaction between the speaker and participants.
In this regard, we would like to invite you to participate in the first lesson of the ECS Series entitled “Growing in Good Governance.” For this lesson, we have invited the former mayor of Calbayog City, Samar (2001-2010), Mr. Mel Senen Sarmiento, who had also served as a member of the Philippine House of Representatives, representing the 1st Legislative District of Samar (2010-2016) and Secretary of the Interior and Local Government (2015-2016). The session aims to impart lessons from this veteran leader’s experiences to the participants. Specifically, it will delve into his personal journey—from his beginnings as vice mayor of Calbayog to his tenure as the mayor of the city. There will also be discussions about personal development that came hand in hand with service, especially in the promotion of good governance practices.
The session will be held on the afternoon of 21 March 2018 (Wednesday) at 02:00 pm. Kindly send in your confirmation to email@example.com on or before 14 March 2018, for we shall be sending instructions on how access the lesson through Adobe Connect. Should you have queries about the activity, please feel free to contact Mr. Jun Maralli, Chief of the Local Governance Training and Development Division, or Ms. Eloise S. Omolida, Project Officer, at (02) 634-6567, 631-3893, or 634-1883.
Thank you and we look forward to your positive response!
